  • Government e-marketplace (GeM) is a state-of-the-art public procurement platform that has used technology to remove entry barriers for bonafide sellers and has created a vibrant e-marketplace with a wide range of goods and services.
  • Currently, there are 26,000 government organisations (Central, State Governments and PSUs) and 1,30,000 sellers & service providers registered on GeM. It has around 25 lakh products available for online purchase and has crossed 6.8 lakh transactions worth Rs. 11,000 crores.
  • As per Rule 149 of the GFR-2017, procurement of Goods and Services by Ministries/ Departments of Central Government has been made mandatory for Goods or Services available on GeM.
